NEW HIGHLAND HOPE LOGO
visual identity, 2018

CLIENT: Highland Hope UMC, Methodist church in Highland, Illinois

AUDIENCE: Members of congregation and local community
GOAL: Create a modern-looking visual for the growing church while maintaining the look of the original logo in order to minimize costs of having to repaint bus with old logo and print all new signage.
PROCESS: Although the logo had not been updated since the 1990s, it only needed a few big changes to give it a more contemporary look. To create this updated look for the logo, I first changed all the text to a sans serif font but kept the original placement and italicization, as well as removed all the shapes from behind the text. I then illustrated a new cross that had a rough, paint stroke. This created some visual interest in the new, stripped down logo that would otherwise be just text.
OUTCOME: I created a logo that was reminiscent of the original while simultaneously bringing the church’s identity into this century.
